We are now nearly at the end of our second week of Year 8 camps. These have been a success and hopefully a great experience for our students, staff and parent helpers. The range of activities we had planned for them—rafting, abseiling, walking to Mountain House, and bushcraft—have given our students the opportunity to push themselves, learn new skills, and to have fun. We are incredibly proud of our students and how they have embraced every challenge with a positive attitude and all the while behaving in an exemplary manner.
A special thank you must go out to the parents who generously volunteered their time to support the camp. Your involvement truly made a difference, and we couldn’t have done it without your help. To the staff who have assisted with and stayed at camp, we would also like to extend our thanks for making the camp an enjoyable and enriching experience for everyone involved.
As part of our ongoing commitment to the safety and well-being of our students, we want to address an important issue that has again come to light: social media use outside of school hours. We have seen some challenges arising from interactions on various online platforms which in turn, spill over into school hours. We are committed to addressing these issues and providing guidance to our students on how to navigate the online world safely and responsibly.
Your involvement at home is crucial in ensuring that your child is engaging in a healthy and appropriate way with these platforms. We ask that parents please take an active role in monitoring their child’s use of social media. While we understand that these platforms are a part of daily life for many of our students, it’s important to remember that there are age restrictions in place. According to the terms of service, children must be at least 13 years old to access many of these platforms and we encourage families to adhere to these guidelines for their child’s safety.
We appreciate your continued support in making sure our students stay safe both online and offline. If you have any questions or concerns regarding cyber safety, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Have a safe and happy weekend.
